In vitro antibacterial effect of Argentine propolis extracts on Streptococcus mutans and Actinomyces viscosus

Aim: In the present study, antibacterial activity of Ethanol Extract Propolis (EEP), collected from various regions (Mendoza, Santiago del Estero, and Corrientes) in Argentina, against Streptococcus mutans ATCC® 35668™ Actinomyces viscosus 15987™ (MicroBioLogics Inc., USA) was investigated. Methods: Identification geographic botanical origin based on a reconnaissance survey. Phytochemical screening propolis carried out ethanolic extracts using standard methods to identify constituents (aluminum chloride colorimetric method, Folin-Ciocalteu thin layer chromatography). The agar diffusion method (discs wells) serial dilution (plates tubes) were used evaluate EEP. Results: EEP exerted degrees S.
